Church

***sorry-- i did all this work and then looked at the blog and realized that i shouldn't have said things like 'first picture'. it kind of went all haywire-- but i'm sure you can figure out that some descriptions don't go with the pictures they're closest to.

Here's our church. It's up a mountain in Kooralbyn-- which is about 40 minutes south of us. To tell the truth, I'm not sure if it's a small mountain or a huge hill. I know every week when we're getting out of the car, we can smell that our car has had to work to get up there.
I took this first picture from the road, and it was a Saturday (which is why there aren't any cars there). The Branch President parks in the undercover parking, and we all park to the right (when you're looking at the picture).
The other pictures I took from the parking lot. The picture that has the truck bed in the picture: the two windows on the left are the Relief Society room.
The picture without anyone in it: that's the Primary room on the right. It was the master bedroom, so it has it's own bathroom. When you first walk in the building (which is just left of this picture), you see a glass enclosure thing, with a mango tree growing (you can barely see the top of the tree on the very left). To the left (after you walk in the building) is the kitchen, bathroom, clerk's office, Branch President's room, and Relief Society room. Also just to the left of walking in is the stairs to some classes upstairs (I've actually never been up there). To the right is the Primary, which you take about 5 stairs to go up to. (There's actually another small room before the Primary room. That's for the older kids, and the Nursery is in the big Primary room.) Down a couple steps is the Sacrament Room. Man, I'm probably not doing very well describing this-- it's hard to do. The Sacrament Room, Relief Society room, and kitchen are all open areas. This can make it pretty hard to listen sometimes.
The picture with all the people in it: this was at our Sausage Sizzle. We had something similar in Texas-- the Linger Longer. I think it's just whenever there's a 5th Sunday. Keep in mind that we had visitors, we don't usually have this many people-- there's usually about 20 of us total.
Then there's the picture with two of my cuties. You can see Jason's younger brother, Joe, standing by the bbq. I'm not positive, but I think the one squatting next to Joe is Jason's dad.

On my first Sunday here-- somehow I got stuck in Nursery. I guess that was fair because my kids made up more than half the class! This is Penny, Sam, and Monique. You can see Monique is saying she's three and Penny is saying she's two.

These are some views from church.

We saw these just after pulling out of the parking lot on the way home from our first time at church. I love wallabies. I think they're cuter than kangaroos-- probably just because they're smaller.

We pass this car going up the tree every week. One day we decided to stop for some fun pictures.

Wow, it's amazing to me how different that church building looks than any others I've seen. Granted, I'm a convert and spent all of my church membership at college in Rexburg and then here in TX. Haha. I guess I haven't ventured around much. Too funny that you ended up in nursery. It's crazy to me when the non-parents, or at least parents without children of primary age, end up in primary callings (our ward). That seems unfair to me that they should miss out on the "grown-up" meetings to babysit for other people's kids. Their parents should have to have those callings. I hope you like your ward and those wallabies are cute.
