A Pitiful Fourth

We don't care that we're in Australia, we were still going to celebrate the greatest country in the world's independence. So we had our own little pitiful celebration for the fourth. And actually, we celebrated it on the fifth here, but that meant it was the fourth in America (we are 17 hours ahead of Arizona time).

Jason and the kids went to buy some sparklers, and we didn't realize until they opened them that they were shaped like a flower. Different. And it's been raining pretty much all day here (woo hoo, our tank is getting full), so they couldn't go too far outside with the sparklers. I stayed on the couch the whole time-- I'm not feeling well (I think it's finally time to take out my tonsils).

A little explanation: remember it's winter here, so it's cold. Also, our house isn't insulated (how dumb is that?), Thomas lost the remote to the rinky dink wall unit, and there's not a fireplace. My kids always kick their covers off at night, so to remedy that problem, I put two pairs of pj's on them to keep them warm. You can't tell in these pictures with Penny and Sam, but I wanted to explain Thomas' get up.

Thanks for doing the tag thing again even though you just did one. So I basically decided that we are long lost twins! I totally clench/grind my teeth at night too so I had to get some new retainers because my teeth were moving. I can't wait till we meet some day. You are so dang cute!! That stinks that you guys didn't get to have the whole patriotic feeling weekend with fireworks and such. I forget that you're in another country. Good for you for celebrating anyway.

I actually checked your blog on the 4th wondering how you felt being away from the land of the free on that day. Every year at fireworks I feel a certain reverence about it, so I can understand how missing the traditional festivities might have felt. Glad you observed it with your little ones.
