Mailboxes

So I've been pissing everyone off on the road trying to get pictures of some cool mailboxes. And I'm warning you that I'll be putting more on once I've got enough for a decent post.
It takes about 2 weeks to get a letter from the US-- and I'm sure it's because the poor mailman has to deliver them into all these cute mailboxes. Um, Post Offices? Come on Australia-- get with the times.
We rent-- and the homeowners here just have a boring mailbox. After getting inspired by all of these though, we decided we're going to make one for us. So I was trying to figure out what it would be. I think it should reflect the way I feel right now-- so I think we've decided on an outhouse.

***Some descriptions aren't next to the right pictures, but I'm going to trust that since you're looking at my blog, you must be smart-- and you'll be able to figure it out anyway.

This one has got to be my favorite. Come on, a microwave for a mailbox? How cool is that???

We pass this guy on the 'Tickle Tummy' road on the way to the Gold Coast. (That road is pretty fun-- as long as you aren't stuck behind a slow old mole.) This mailbox is the biggest and most creative one I've seen.

At first when I saw this bucket on a stick for a mailbox, I though it doesn't get more Australian that that. But then I found this tin can on a stick! Too funny.

I've seen lots of mailboxes around here made from old containers. This whole setup made me laugh.

Hopefully the mail doesn't fall off the wagon. Ha ha-- I'm such a dork.

Nice resting place. (below)

I had to get two shots of this one so you could see it better. For some reason it reminded me of Mrs. Lee from St. David-- probably just because she liked those masks.

I just thought this one was cute and I liked the horse in the background.

We found this one when we were going to look at a sheep and goat that we were thinking of buying (we still haven't decided-- but I'll let you know).

My stepdad would appreciate this.

A bashed and beaten little piggy.

Beer keg mailbox. And yes, Jason had to tell me it was a beer keg.

Ned Kelly. If you haven't seen the movie or don't know who he is-- just Google him because I don't feel like explaining. You can't really tell from the picture, but he's holding guns in both hands.

Wow! What a fun post. I didn't know people did that kind of stuff, the most creative mailboxes I've seen are UofA vs. ASU neighbors. I would have have never thought of microwave, that almost seems red-neckish. Loved the horse-trailer one. Very cute pictures, can't wait to see yours!

How cool are those and how creative of them to do fun things like that. That's so great. "stop and smell the mailboxes"

Those mailboxes are so funny. I can't wait to see what you guys come up with.

Thanks for leaving a memory on my blog. I have so so so many memories of you too. I remember being SO excited when you moved in. We had so much fun together. "The bars" were the greatest meeting place ever, and the best place to just sit and talk too. I remember skating on your basketball court, and out in your carport when it was being built. I can remember meeting at the fence too. I remember playing out in the tree's on the pavement piles. The ditch was our home away from home. The thing I loved, and love most about you is you are really who you are, and I always knew I could trust you with anything! Oh just typing this makes me miss the good old days!

I remember "sneaking out" with you a time or two and not really doing anything exciting, we just snuck out to see if we could get away with it. Hyrum remembers you two changing the letters around on the Marqui at school that refered to a certain teacher who shall remain nameless.

Hi Allison,
You're listed on several St. David people's blogs so I thought I'd stop by and peak at your cute little family. I hope it's okay if I leave an usolicited comment:) I just love this particular post. I really like collections of unusual things so this was right up my alley. Well done!

How fun was that! Now, I'm not sure I'm one of the smart one's out there reading your posts because it takes me awhile to figure out what you are saying and matching it to the right picture. ;0 But I loved all those creative mailboxes. I wonder if the US would even let people do that??? I know where we lived in Melbourne that they were all "normal" so I wonder if it is a small towns way of adding some "fun" into their lives? Cute nevertheless.

Wow. Australians are... creative? Yeah, that's the word I'll choose.

Haha.

P.S. Who do you root for in the Olympics?
